LIGHTING

These are looks to help us establish a verbal shorthand and common goal. The three main lighting scenarios we may find ourselves in will likely be, fuller broader scenes - moodier more shadowy moments, and really horror style settings.

 Fuller/Broader/Brighter

*note: fuller/broader/brighter lighting is similar to what we all naturally encounter in day to day life, therefore on set it is often an easier faster style. The time restraints of LSFH will push us to this lighting style. Occasionally broader lit scenes are susceptible to feeling flat or overly lit, we must avoid this of course.

Moodier/Shadowy

*note: moodier lighting is harder to achieve, it requires more time and massaging of the light. Soft sources are going to need flags, egg crates and shaping devices that we may not have time or space to manipulate. If we have enough pre-light time and accurate planning/framing we can increase how well we can achieve these looks.

Horror

*note: horror lighting will feel appropriate and be really impactful for some portions of the film. This look does require a lot of control of the lighting and blacking out of spaces, walls, and windows, thus making this horror look a heavier time requirement.
